A message from the Ambassador of France to Ireland

Welcome to the latest edition of the Cork French Film Festival, the longest-running French film festival in Ireland!

For almost 40 years, this festival has brought the best of French-language cinema to Cork, and the French Embassy is delighted to support it once again.

From classics to new releases, from an exclusive Q&A with Oscar-winning film director Régis Wargnier to educational screenings, and short films, this programme — part of the Francophonie Festival in Ireland — celebrates the richness and diversity of the French-speaking world. It will bring to Cork the best of French cinema, a fantastic opportunity to come together, be inspired and embody France and Cork’s longstanding connection, as 2026 is a milestone year with Cork officially paired with France, during Ireland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Congratulations to Valérie David-McGonnell, President of the Alliance Française de Cork and Director of the Cork French Film Festival, and to her team for bringing us this outstanding programme and making our cultural connection stronger than ever.
